Narayan Krishanan is a 29 years old successful chef of Taj hotel, Mumbai. He had everything what a person of his age craves for lavish house, car and secure future. However, narayan krishanan had some other plans. He does not wish to live for himself or his family. Therefore, he embraces all those needy and homeless people who could not feed themselves and their families. 


According to Narayan Krishanan, he was a carefree and a self-centred boy who had dream of establishing himself. He was all set to fly for Switzerland for better career opportunities. However, one day when he visited Madurai temple he came across a man eating his own human waste. That particular incident according to Krishnan disturbed him to the core and compelled him to think the cruel reality of our system. 

Much to the dismay of his parents, CNN says,  Krishnan abandoned his career plans and decided to spend his life and  his professional training in looking after those who could not care for  themselves. He has provided more than 1.2 million hot meals through his  nonprofit organisation Akshaya Trust, and now hopes to extend this to  shelter for the homeless too.” Excerpt from an article dated October 20, 2010.

Every day he rises up at 4 am in morning and with the help of his team he prepares food for almost 400 homeless people. Then he along with his team  go out and feed all those people who are homeless and have nothing to eat. He also offer them hair cuts and place to live. 

Narayan krishnan has decided to dedicate his entire life for this noble cause. He says that sometimes he fall short to collect enough funds to feed poor people. He hopes to provide shelter to all the homeless people of madurai in future. 

His noble deeds have got him so many acknowledgements and awards.
